Welcome to Riad Charai
Once the residence of the Charai Family and the property of the Private Secretary to the famous Pasha Glaoui, this lovely Riad boasts a larger than average floor area (1600 sq. m.), giving it a spacious and airy feel.
It has been beautifully and elegantly restored by Rocco Forte designer, Carine Mavroleon, in true ‘Nouveaux Moroccan’ style using traditional local materials and craftsmanship, but with a contemporary and minimalist twist that sets it apart. Part of the furniture is original Art Deco furniture from the famous Mamounia hotel, including the bar stools from the ‘Churchill bar’.
The Riad Charai’s is an “Oasis in the Medina” that contrasts vividly with the ceaseless activity of the surrounding souks. Its innate tranquillity is enriched by the sounds of birdsong from the adjacent palm grove and the custom ‘Soundscape design’ by Famous Brazilian DJ Monica Soldan. Her music has been specially designed for each space in the Riad and is very contemporary flavoured with local Arabesque and African sounds.
Offering a wide range of beauty treatments and massage using traditional Moroccan oils. Also offering traditional ‘Henna’ tattoos and in-house hairdressing services.
This is where your experience of the RIad Charai ‘Oasis’ experience begins, with lanterns, wonderful traditional incense and the sound of water trickling from a rose petal filled fountain.
Two large courtyards, both with tent covered lounge area and open pool area with a good-sized pool 9m x 4m (approx. 30ft x 13 ft). The courtyard also features a fountain and two bed-lounge alcoves ideal for relaxation.
Gardens planted with fragrant orange trees, palms, jasmine surrounding the pool and tent covered lounge area.

Fantastic riadWe had an amazing stay and fantastic service! Beutiful hotel and excellent rooms! The location is a bit off, but the 20 minute walk to the center of the medina was worth it! We recommend the airport service, since the riad is a bit tricky to find the first time.
A beautiful Riad with wonderful staffI don't normally write reviews but felt compelled to review this beautiful Riad. We travelled as a couple and stayed in Riad Charai for 6 nights in September 2016. From the moment you walk in you feel so welcome and comfortable as all the staff are so friendly and it is so peaceful and calm...
Oasis in the Middle of MedinaAfter two nights in a resort we felt our stay in Marrakech will be incomplete without a stay in a Riad. We could not have chosen a better one. Riad Charai is in a residential part of Medina so it was very quiet.
Heaven on Earth! There are no words to describe this place - so beautiful! From the first moment you enter it feels like another planet - the smell of roses, sound of water, birds singing, just perfect. Our room was really nice with a large bathroom and had a cute little terrace outside with a view over the central courtyard.
